I caught this Brown Pelican at the beginning of a dive. He did abort the dive ---I believe the water was too shallow. 1/1600. f7.1, ISO 200, FL 400mm. Taken on a sunny afternoon -Texas Gulf Coast.

Sharpness looks good as does your exposure. The sun looks a little high in the sky, and I wish the bird had been pointed towards you instead of away from you. Overall a nice effort!

Hi Kathy - Exposure looks good and love the underwing details, agreew with Doug, if the pelican had been diving towards you - you would have nailed it. Well done :)

Hi Kathy I like the pose and love the feather detail This is one species you need good light on the bird !!

btw these guys are great when the wind is backwards .. wind blowing against sun.. a situation that is just about impossible to make a good flight image but with these guys you get to top side when they are banking and sure works great !!!
