This species is here for the winter (Jacksonville FL) and I was so pleased seeing one getting a drink at my feeders. I placed an orange half into a bowl and now several visit my backyard each day. I selected this image because of the BG and its natural look. I processed it in Elements 6. I hope you like it...Canon 20D, Canon EF 300/2.8 IS, ISO 200, f8, 1/25, hand held. I dropped the exposure compensation 1/3rd to increase shutter speed as I was without my flash..
Comments very welcome, I want to learn from the many experts here..

The pose is nice and the image is sharp but dark, esp. on the face. The BKGR may be natural but with all of the bare branches is not pleasing to me.
As described in ABP II, place your orange on a stick feeder with a nice perch above it and a distant evenly toned BKGR. Work right on sun angle and you will come up with some great images of your visitor.

You can't get better advice than Artie gave you. Were you really shooting at 1/25? If so, I would consider pushing my ISO into the 400-640 range and opening up your aperture. Shooting more open would have softened the BG some too.
