This Laughing Kookaburra was making regular visits to feed its young in a tree hollow. I set the camera and flashes up on top of a 20ft tower and fired the camera remotely using a canon IR transmitter from aprox 30 feet away.

Canon EOS 5, Canon 28-105mm lens, Fuji RDP 100 iso, 1/25 F11, Flash x2 (short flash duration to freeze action) BG ambient light underexposed by 2 stops to minimise ghosting.

Incredible capture John and very interesting techs on this one. Love the action you captured in this image and a wonderful composition that tells us quite a story.. Thanks for sharing this !!!

Interesting flash set up here. I like this shot. I understand why you underexposed the ambient but at f/11 the background is mildly distracting for me. Its also too bad that the left wing tip sort of blends into the dark background.

I like the pose and eye contact but part of the plumage looks overexposed on my monitor.
