Rich, this may be my favorite of the ones you've posted. The soft colors, the texture and the phleming all contribute to the appeal. The horns tell the story of many battles.

Great portrait. The open mouth, broken horn and look in his eye show us something about his character. Your subject is well placed within the frame and has a nice soft BG. This is a keeper.

Just beautiful. Love the rich browns, the worn horns, and the open mouth. Full of interest. I studied this image for a long time.

I agree with all of the above. This is a superb capture. It might be worth popping the subject away from the background a little more dramatically. Fairly clean edges all around, so it's an easy masking job.

David if it's not to much trouble could you explain how you made the image pop. I'm not to good at photoshop and would like to learn how to do that in the future. Thanks for the compliments.

No trouble at all. The first and main step is to make a clean mask of the subject so you can deal with subject and background independently. Two main adjustments in the layer stack below: Levels applied only to the subject (to brighten), curves applied only to the background (to darken). The "color dodge" layer is sometimes called "Paint with light." It's an extra enhancement to brightness: Fill a blank layer with black and change blend mode to color dodge. Then paint with white directly on the layer, very low brush opacity (3% or so). This will boost colors and brightness considerably, which is why you want to keep brush opacity low.

A capture that says all you need to know about this animal, BIG POWERFUL.
Interesting techniques in the repost but to me it makes it look a little too manipulated.
