    Default Sunrise at Mosquito Lagoon

I was on a Space Coast Birding & Wildlife Festival photo field trip with Milton Heigberg to catch a sunrise and we just happened to be very close to Space Shuttle Launch Pad B. The towers around the central structure of the Pad are the new lightning protection towers being installed as part of the NASA Constellation program. You can also see a few work cranes silhouetted by the sunrise. We were standing on the southwest shore line of Mosquito Lagoon and had this view of Pad B. Oddly enough, just on the other side of the dike road from where we were standing was a group of duck hunters blasting away. We were close enough to smell the gunpowder smoke from the shotgun shells.

Canon EOS 40D, 500 mm lens, shutter speed 1/10, F/9, Av Mode, Evaluative metering, exposure comp +1 1/3, and ISO 800.

    Comments and critiques welcomed.

    Jim

you got some awesome colors jim!! needs a little CW rotation to straighten the horizon and i'd give it a round of sharpening too. too bad there wasnt a shuttle on the pad!!!! would have been awesome!!!!!!

Thanks for the responses. I rotated the image 3/4 of a degree CW and sharpened the image. It looks much nicer. Thanks.

Hi James At that time do shoot wide open, any priority would be on increasing shutter speed. I find silhouettes need to be razor sharp, the slow shutter speed hurt some.

Composition wise might do away with the bottom lighter area. Fine Image !!!
