We redheads have to stick together. ;) Even though this is actually a red-bellied woodpecker you gotta respect that colorful hat!

Taken today during a very overcast wintery day, I lightened it up quite a bit in pp, including selectively lightening the eye. It made a huge difference to the life of the image.

    Canon 40D, 70-200mm f/4L + 1.4 TC (I finally got one, Al!)
    f5.6 @ 1/250th, ISO 320
    Manual mode, pattern metering, AWB
Handheld, natural light, shot through a glass door
Processed in ACR & CS4 with a crop, levels adjustment and eye tweaks.

Like the pose Julie and the OOF peanuts in the FG. Like how the seeds look like an integral part of the shot. Would like to see it bigger for posting!

Jackie, I tried to put up a larger image and it kept kicking it out...I finally downsized it to a 10x7 and this is how it uploaded it. Go figure!

    I like it Julie,
The depth of field is good...head angle and eye contact within range...and the color rendition is very nice...now the question is; what did the little guy eat? the seeds or the peanut???:D:cool:

Julie, Nice shots! I love these guys! You did a good job getting the HA and pose on the 1st one. Still can't believe the detail you managed thru the glass door!! Well done
