Very nice Denise, Interesting comment about the level. My first thought was it was photo was slightly off level. Great soft light coming in at top. Might be an interesting before and after photo with a full summer shot, maybe young family or couple using gazebo. Nicely done. Dave

Cold and lonely; I like Dave's suggestion for pairing it with same shot, different seasons. Lovely light and good feel, Denise.

Dave W. -I used the hubble bubble level on it since I had such a feeling of the scene being off.I just leveled it again this time using the beams in the gazebo see if that is better.

    Hi Denise:

With the ground not level in 2 directions, leveling the Gazebo was the answer. Good thinking!

Your photo is very pleasing, and I like the setting and feel of it.

    Thank you for sharing it.

For a second I thought it was HDR Denise. I like what you have done to the sky and I like all the branches at the top. I noticed you had used a Level, but I guess the structure has settled a bit.

Really a beautiful shot. One thing keeps attracting my eye as not quite kosher, and that's the darkening of the tree trunks and branches toward the top. If this was an effect intended mainly for the sky, you might be able to remove it from the tree limbs using the blend-if sliders (in the layer effects dialog box).

The tree trunks darken toward the top of the image. B is darker than A. This appears to be a darkening effect applied with a gradient to darken the sky (I'm just guessing). In any case, it doesn't look like natural shadow to me.

    Lady Denise,
I like the composition...your second repost is level, and Dave has a point about the upper portion of the tree limbs being darker than the bottom...ab easy fix in Photoshop...where was this taken? It's beautiful...

David, I understood what you meant in reference to the tree colors-what I didn't understand is how you meant to fix it. I used a photo filter in PP. and don't understand what blend-if slider is. Thankyou

Ah, OK Denise. Sorry. Here's an illustration of how it works. I applied a green photo filter to this section of your image. Of course it turns everything green, trunks and all.

Now double-click on on that layer in the layers palette (in the blank area beside the label) and the layer styles dialog comes up. At the bottom, I dragged the slider for the "Underlying layer" to the right. Notice it's a luminance scale just like in levels. The slider tells PS basically this: Don't apply this filter to anything below this level. When I drag the left slider to the right, I'm exempting all the darker values (of the underlying layer) from being affected by the filter. You just eyeball the image as you drag the slider, until the trunks return to their normal color. If you go too far, the sky will also be exempted, so just play around with it.

Result, the filter affects the lighter sky but not the darker branches.
