We have been receiving swarms of siskins and redpoles over the last few weeks. This one is on a metal hook used to hold up feeders in a blind/feeder/perch setup. This one had a better pose than most of my natural perch images:( ... but I like it anyway:).

How do you stand on the non-natural perch issue?

    All comments welcome.

Can't say I'm a big fan of this perch, although the bird and BG look fantastic. There is a dust spot in the white area to the left of the bird's head. I would consider cropping a bit off the bottom of the frame.

Head angle, details and exposure control look great. I find the perch overpowering and would try to set up a branch such as the one Daniel uses in his siskin images.

Joel I know how do you feel about this image because I have a bunch of them with the same problem: b¡very good pose and unpleasant perch. Do not worry and try to put more natural perchs around the bird feeder and sooner or later the birds will be posing on the perch that you like the most :-)

Other than the perch, the image is fabulous Joel! :) Super sharp and great eye contact. :)

Hi Joel, I'm in with the others about the perch too, it just doesn't seem to fit for some reason but otherwise very nice.

Sharp and a nice yellow wing patch. You could tape an attractive suitable perch in place right onto the hook. As it states in ABP II (I think), you need to try and avoid giving them any bad places to land.
