Heading back to the Falklands on the 29th with a group.

Tip- use the DOF button to position the zone of focus as desired. Here I shifted the zone to include the tip of the nose to just behind the eyes.

Awesome !!!!! Talk about close. Love this one Chas and the crop is over the top for me. Excellent detail and pose.

Macro seal?!! Good job on this close up portrait. I love the details in the whiskers and the eyes.

Excellent work Charles. The focus zone is spot-on as you had said. Awesome portrait! Love the dribble...... :)

Nice work and good tips. I probably would have included just a tad more at the bottom and top (so as not to clip eye brow).

Have a great trip and workshop.

    Charles,
This is a lovely image. I like the angle. The dof is good. If you take a poll, probably 90% of them will say that they don't use that button. I would agree with Robert regarding a bit more space at the top and bottom.

    Cheers,

I would bet you would not have included more room at the top and bottom, if it would include distracting area other than the animal itself on the sides. ;) Of course I could have filled in the area with CS, but ....

Guys, just an FYI... when judging for contests the score is based solely on the image content provided, to do otherwise is conjecture.

    XXOO,

Talk about "in your face"...Very nice job on this Charles. The image holds my interest and makes me want to study it. A sign of an image with impact....

IMO, the tip of the eyebrow would not have made the image stronger. Impact gets diluted with space.

A fabulous intimate portrait! Love the eye contact and the drool. Agree with Fabs on not diluting this strong image.

I love in your face images:)!

Look at the repost. Original on left, crop on right. If the clipped eyelash is bothersome, I would prefer a tighter crop rather than looser.
However, the symmetry of Chas' original is tough to beat.
