    Default An Everglades Anhinga

This is just one of the many Anhinga beauties I saw last weekend when I was so very fortunate to attend Alfred and Fabs Everglades workshop. We had a great time with the birds, the company and the learning and now I'm trying to put some of that to work. I also got to meet Harold, Alberto and Oscar, and that was a bonus.

I like this guy's preening pose, the eye and the background. I was trying out the Canon 400 DO f4 lens and couldn't backup anymore so this is very much a closeup. Great lens but since I can only have one big one, I chose the 500...as they say, I'm spending my kids inheritance:D

    Canon 40D; Manual exp. 1/500, f4; ISO 800; 400 DO

Thanks for looking and I encourage and appreciate your C&C.

Can't fault the detail and the colors Katie!! Wow. While the pose is certainly different I like it a lot, neat feel.

I'm not sure but wonder what maybe just a bit more space on top would look like?

    Hi Katie,
I'm sorry I missed you last weekend, but I was a tad under the weather...:(Congratulations on your new lens...I'm glad you had a wonderful time down here, and got to meet the Miami Gang and our very own Doctor Davis...:D
I like your image and capture...I took the liberty in modifying it as far as cropping goes...I added canvas to the top for more head room and added to the right of the frame...also cropped from the left...toned down the whites and boosted contrast just slightly...see if you like it...

Thanks, Gus, this is better. I see now that it was too big in the frame which is a change for me as I'm usually working with large crops.

Hi katie Sure was fun and Big Congrats on the lens !!!!

Good looking bird in full breeding plumage I like the tighter crop Gus made. Would check the histogram I think it might be a little over. I know when we worked that bird the sun was peaking through on and off and it required a 2/3 change. It is tough keeping up with it. Excellent capture !!!

Like it as you had presented it Katie, just with the toned down highlights. Such a beautiful BG and lovely details and pose. I hope you print this one up. I find it breath-taking!
