    This is the second image I liked from my recent (-31 Celsius) shoot in the graveyard. I was happy with the eye contact and BG, but, was not crazy about the shadow on the branch.

    This is a crop of the original.

    50D with my 400mm f5.6 lens.
    Shooting Mode Manual Exposure
    Tv( Shutter Speed ) 1/1250 @ 6.3
    Metering Mode Evaluative Metering
    ISO Speed 400

    Nice pose and detail on the bird here, Garry. I agree with your comment about the shadow but you may be able to dodge this a bit lighter. Light angle is not ideal and that is what has caused the shadow issue. I would crop a little from the right to decentre the bird.

    Gary,

    Fill-flash and a bit more depth of field to get the bill sharp would have been you friend here. Nice clean BG adds to the image and whites look OK.

    Nice image, fill flash would have been good as well as an off center crop! :)
