Very Nice Denise, Nice and sharp, and the high lights around the rim from the back lighting look nice. Good one, Dave

    Great one...
I love to see action or intent in a bird photo.

Hi Denise That bird is not a happy camper !!!

Could you check the histogram for that image? Looks under to me? Like the feel and expression, the few feathers on the ice sure add to the mood !!! Gloom could be good !!!

Alfred, The histogram is good. There was just no color -it was gloomy-I liked the desaturated look to it-I felt it added to his look.

love the pose!! one thing i've learned about the gloom and doom days: take the flash!! will help with the shadows and add a little punch to the image that you cant get with the flat light.

Harold, I probably should have used a flash- but w/ ice I wasn't sure.

Nice shot Denise, don't know if a flash would have helped. When I used the 580 EX around water, you definitely get a kind of silver foil reflection look to it. But maybe that's what you might have wanted. Love the spread out wings. Might up the blacks a bit??? make them look a little darker.

In addition to the other comments I can add that it give me a cold and grey feeling. Excellent capture, Denise.
