When I finally received my first primary lens (400DO) late this summer, I was very excited by the improvement in clarity and resolution over my zoom (100-400). The one minor nit I had was the almost 1 meter added to the MFD. So, I quickly ordered a set of extension tubes. To take them for a spin, I visited one of my favorite close up subjects (burrowing owls at Brian Piccolo Park). This is one of my first images with new extension tubes. 1dmkIIn 400DO 1.4xtc and 20mm ext. ISO 800 F16@1/332. Made just before sunset.
I love everything about this image. Sharpness, BG, position and expression of the owl and the perfect cropping.
I looked hard to find one nit, and the only thing I could come up with was a tiny white dot at the bottom of the eye pupil on the right side of the photo - I would be tempted to take this out.
Great job with this photo!
