This image was captured on January 2009 and 4:19PM in the backyard of my home in Cary North Carolina. We do not get much snow here (first measurable snow in three years). Today we received four plus inches. The birds had to work a little harder to get to the feed. I like how the snow provide what I think is a pleasing background.
The picture is pretty much full frame with a little cropped off the left side. The image was converted in ACR. Minor adjustments in Photoshop were a minor curves adjustment and in Selective Color I added black (2+) in blacks and neutrals.
Thanks for looking and of course any critiques.
Regards,
Phil

With the rarity of the snow for you guys its nice that you've had the time to capture some "winter" images. Exposure looks good, as does sharpness...but critical focus seems to be on the wing. Subject feels tight in the frame. I'm also not crazy about where the snow comes out from behind the head of the junco - wish it came out lower, such as shoulder height or upper back height. Good call in adding some blacks in...looks good. You also got a nice head turn :-)
