This is my first post to this forum. I have been a lurking member for a few months. The caveat is that I am first and foremost a landscape photographer but with the purchase of a Nikon 200-400 VR F/4 lens I have been trying my hand at birds and wildlife . Challenging but addicting. I recently went to Bosque and managed to come away with some good images (at least to me). Image made with a D700, 200-400 + 1.4 TC, wimberly sidekick
    f/10, 1/2500 , ISO 1600, 550mm
RAW processed in LR2 and CS4, crop to remove rear end of another crane to the right
    Comments and critique welcome.

Welcome to BPN Steve (I see your first post was a year in waiting!!) Exposure and sharpness llok good, as does the great habitat in the BG. The two biggest detriments here are that the birds have already passed you when you pressed the shutther (see the looking away head angle) and that the lower birds head is hidden. What I really love is the shadow of the back bird projected onto the front bird...very neat!

We also have a "Landscapes" forum here...I'm sure many would love to see what you have to offer there ;-)

    Looking forward to more!

Welcome to BPN, Stephen. Nice first post. I like the details and setting. Do you have images in this series with the birds flying toward you? Keep them coming!
