First Post! Taken at Wako Sat a.m. This spoonbill flew towards us briefly and then abruptly turned and flew away. He never even landed.

    Nikon D200, 70-200 2.8 lens w/ 1.7TC, Focal length 340mm
ISO 400, 1/3000 @ f5.0 Note: forgot to sharpen before posting.
    Comments appreciated.

    Hi Arlene,

Your image looks a little soft in my monitor. I also find the tree touching the bird's feet a little distracting. However, You did well with the exposure and I also like the composition.

Thank you all for the welcome. This image is soft - no sharpening applied to it. Also, the color on this post appears slightly different from my processed psd file that shows on my monitor. Should the posted image be exactly as I see it on my monitor? Or, will there be variables in color when Saving for Web? Thanks.

It almost always looks a bit different in Photoshop than in a web browser. You can check 'proof colors' under 'View' to get an idea what it will look like. If you didn't sharpen, no wonder it looks a bit soft. :)

Hi Arlene, and Welcome! As has been said, good composition, and you might clone out the merging twig. I like the angle of the wings; also, I find the color just fine--nice and pink with good unblown whites, and the under-wings certainly are not in shadow. Looking forward to seeing you out soon.
