Excellent pose and capture...the bird is placed just right in frame..I like the sharp details and color rendition..the dark background makes this little guy stand out...well done...my suggestion would be to do a pass of noise reduction in the background...good show...

    Hi Denise . . .

I think your capture is out of sight, especially that you shot your Junco on a branch, I always find them on the ground or foraging along the edge of a creek amongst the rocks.

I don't notice any noise on my monitor, test strip showing all the colors at both ends?

    Thanks for sharing.

I see some on monitor-I think it's from resizing-image is only 153kb, I should have paid closer attention and got it up to 200kb.

    Denise,

Very nice detail and cropping. Curious...was the slight darkness around the bird and limb added in or did it come with the territory? It almost looks like it separates itself from the BG a little. It does add contrast.

HI Denise - gorgeous love the pose and the overf the shoulder head turn. On my screen there looks to be a shdow effect around the entire bird?
    Lovely - well done.

Life is good Denise, a Mark III:) Very nice all around. Very pretty BG colours. What type of sharpening techniques do you use?? ( just curious)

Another really nice one Denise. I think those Juncos owe you one. Got the bird just right, great perch and bg. Dave

Jackie, with bird photography I like things to look naturally sharp-I hate sharpening halos and those white scratchy eyes.So I do minimal sharpening,I guess that's why I always get called out for needing more sharpening.I like them to look natural and that is my goal. I use CS4 and Efex Define.

Excellent Denise !!! For these I usually select the bg, inverse and sharpen the bird only or just do a layer and brush sharpness to selected areas. Dark bg are tough and you don't want to sharpen noise.

I like look back pose and its a very appealing image !!!

Very, very nice - everything is working together here: exposure, sharpness, bg, composition, natural perch on a diagonal nonetheless. This is a winner

Agree on the BG (just a bit of noise)
