    Default Hoopoe

Created this image of a Hoopoe in Bharatpur in Keoladeo Ghana National Park, India

I wanted a closeup, as I didn't have any since shifting over to digital. The black in the background is natural as there was a bush with deep shadows there at a distance. Minimal post processing in lightroom.

Canon EOS 50D, EF 400mm f2.8 L IS USM, EF 2xII, ISO 200, f.3, 1/400 Full frame. Look forward to your comments and critiques.

    Cheers,
    Sabyasachi

Sorry for the spelling mistake in the thread subject. Hoopoe is the right spelling. Scientific name is Upupa epops.

Sabyasachi, when viewing the thumbs just double-click the arrow pointer beside the title...you will be able to correct it ;-)

As posted it looks like the image could stand another round of USM...doesn't need much - just enough to give it that needed "crispness". Good comp, the black BG helps make the Hoopoe stand out nicely. I would clone out the OOF spots in LLC.

Lovely BG. I agree with Dan re another touch of sharpening. Head pose is nice - they are often so busy and quick feeding that it is hard to catch a nice pose. Looking forward to one with a raised crest:D I have edited the title spelling for you.

Nice pose and eye contact. Like the transition from black to green in the BG. Another vote for more sharpening and removing the light area behind the 'www.'

    Hi Sabyasachi!
I was trying to do some PS work in your image but I couldn't save your signature, sorry about that.
Love this image, great portrait of a great bird. Really nice light and eye contact.
