    Default 200-400VR in macro mode!

The Nikkor 200-400VR lens gets a lot of positive reviews for it's zoom capability, buy what's not often spoken about too much is it's ability
to close focus down to 6.2 feet! Which can make for some interesting near macro images.
A touch more DOF would have been nice.
    Nikon D300 200-400VR ISO200 f/7 1/200s@400mm + Gitzo GT3450LS. approx 25%crop.

    C & C most welcome

    Cheers
    Marc

Hey Marc, very nice body detail, and I like the forward position of the wings. Good work on the BG.

Nicely done Marc...well exposed with good positioning of the subject. The lighter color in the lower right doesn't bother me. Regarding the DOF I agree with you wishing for a bit more on the tail however well executed.

Love the yellow of the df against the gray BG - very pretty and "metallic" in feel. A little more DOF would have been nice but I'd still consider this a big score. Nicely done!

Not much more to add here. A great image that would only be greater with a tad more dof to sharpen up the tail. Well done!

Hi Marc, tough to get more dof from this angle and agree with you about the near macro capabilities of the 200-400. I find the eye and back looking a bit oversharpened, love the bg.
