I was at the Art Deco Festival on Miami Beach when Carmen Miranda walked by..... Reminded me of the '40's. She was very colorful, but thought since it was Art Deco, B&W suited her... Maybe I'll repost in color, see which you think you like better. It was high noon and the shadows were really strong. Photographed with my Canon 40D, ISO 200, f/5.6, 1/2000 sec, EF70-200mm f/2.8L, 70mm, Evaluative Metering, Auto Exposure, Auto WB, No Flash. Comments Welcome.....

Hi Richard, I think both images are wonderful and have their own charm. I like the frivolous colors in the second one, which seem to fit the mood, but I think the B/W one has a timeless atmosphere, which was what you were looking for with this one, I guess. Nice work!

Richard, I think the B&W is great! The color version is vibrant-but the B&W just adds soooo much to the image!!! I also like the vignetting. Maybe NR in BG (prob. from the conversion) Well done!!!

They are both lovely but that is one good looking B&W!

For a minute I thought you had lost it Richard and then I saw the colour version. ( I couldn't tell what it was!!!) Like them both but especially the colour. It flies off the page more to me.

I can actually say, that while I think both are super I like the B&W one best

Agree with Nonda. They are both spectacular, the colors on the color one are simply awesome. But I preffer the B&W myself.

Great description and your B&W is awesome. I also remember Carmen was usually photographed in B&W.

    My 2 cents worth.

    Richard,

Both are very nice, but I think the B&W adds a certain elegance and adds a time element to it, which appeals to me. By the way, the B&W seems rather like a sepia to me...or are my eyes or monitor playing tricks?

    Thanks for sharing,

    Stefan

Stefan, It is not a sepia, but it does have a warmness to the image. When using Silver Efex, you can imitate various types of film. This was a Kodak 125. I wanted the antique, worn look.......
