    Default White-winged Crossbill

Photographed in a nearby state park a few days ago. This female bird came down to eye level and I liked the setting and ice. In this case I don't mind the busy habitat and am wondering what you think about it.

The habitat works for me, as do the exposure and sharpness. I know you cropped to include the two pine cone thingies on the left, but the bird is somewhat centered; I'm wondering if you could leave only one cone and crop the other one out.

Good pose and sharpness. I like the ice, needles and cones and the sharpness of the bird is great. Centredness doesn't worry me too much but I might add a subtle corner burn and burn in the brighter areas of foliage to push the bird forward in the image.

I don't mind the habitat either Axel. Very nice to see the female of the species in this lovely capture. Pin-sharp from stem to stern and although unconventional, the crop works because of the interesting BG.

I like this one alot, because of the habitat - the bird is not too shabby either ;-) Comp works for me, and the icy branches are a nice finishing touch. You could probably successfully burn in some more detail on the wing-bar.
