    This time no HAPs needed:D

Taken in the garden while I was trying out hiding in a pup - tent about 3 m from the feeders. This young Kingfisher came and perched right in front of me. I had about 10 sec to take off the extender and shoot!! Got 4 shots :D

    Canon EOS 1D Mark II
    focal length: 300mm
    f/ 6.3
    exp time: 1/250sec.

    Very well done Jeni,
I like this very much...you have good colors and sharp details...I like the pose and perch...the tones and hues in the background makes this for me. The head angle could be better; the head tilted down just a tad, but its ok...this is a beautiful image and capture...my only suggestion is to darken the eye just a little and resharpen...

How cool he landed right in front of you! Super nice image, really nice..Agree on the extra bit of sharpening, I think the HA is just fine:D. Would maybe tone down the whites on the back of the neck

Thanks guys! Was only teasing Gus though :p.
NO, the kingfishers don't feed at the feeders but they do seem to like some of the high perches. I was surprised at this youngster, this log is only about 1m off the ground and fairly in the open.:)

Nice one Jeni, like Gus's idea of darkening the eye, maybe just the pupil??, and a wee bit of sharpening.

Beautiful repost, Jeni! Just watch that you aren't clipping those whites on his neck!

Hi Jeni - gorgeous- the repost is great - some of the whites look alittle hot on my screen though.

    HA looks fine to me.

    Well done :)
