I followed this wren with a spider in his mouth through the bushes for quite some time. Finally he went up in the peak of a shelter. I climbed up on a picnic table to get on his level and he posed perfectly for this shot. I tried cropping including both corners of the opening but it seemed too wide. What do you think? Thanks for your thoughts.
I have to ask. How do you guys follow a bird through different lighting conditions, adjusting your settings and still catch that great shot?
Well done Judy,
I like the natural triangular framing that the wooden beams provide...The silhouette of the bird is nice and sharp, and the spider in mouth is a big plus; capturing an action shot...good show...my only suggestion would be to run a pass of noise reduction in the background and you set to go...looking forward to your next capture...
Judy - definitely a cool image. It is neat that the species of the bird and the spider are so identifiable in the silhouette. I might try lightening or desaturating the blue-green triangle bg to see if it improves the image at all, it might bring the bird out even more. I like the crop as is.
Cheers
Gail
Love the natural frame around this silhouette! Fantastic! Agree that you need some noise reduction and would maybe sharpen the outline of the bird a bit more so it really pops.
As for the change in lighting conditions, I use manual mode 99% of the time and just spin those dials like crazy but I also shoot everything in RAW so that helps tremendously.
