Excellent exposure control, light, and colours. Use of flash put a nice catchlight in the eye.

Without the flash there would be little or no highlights to the feathers in the crest. Glad to see good, expedient use of flash. Nice density to colours; good resolution. The oily texture to water is a nice element to the image. Good one.

This is great, I like the soft light, details, angle and exposure control. It could go a tad brighter for my taste.

Great image. I love the way it emphasizes the beauty of the head and eye. Very well framed, the viewer's gaze goes right to the merganser's beautiful yellow eye. As mentioned by the others, good job on your exposure. This is a particularly hard subject because the bird has both black and white feathers. Overall, very well done, I would have been very proud to take this one:).
