I took this one on a rainy afternoon at CATIE institute in Costa Rica.
    Very difficult light conditions.
I love the posture on this bird. Unfortunately the quality is horrible.
I especially don't understand what happened in the head region.
All I did is: I sharpened a bit and saturated the colors a bit.
All comments and thoughts how to improve this one will be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Ilija

Hi, Llija, A very unigue looking bird in a very unigue looking setting. Good one. It looks to me like the sun/light is from behind the bird, so the bird facing the camera is in shadows. Perhaps needs some work to reduce shadows and brighten it up. I like the composition. Also, it is very helpful if you include the camera/lense information and exposure settings with the info. when you post. Looking forward to the next one Dave.

hi Ilija, and welcome to BPN! that is one wild looking bird. great pose!! agree with dave, i think the light was coming from the wrong direction and working against you. in this case, i think flash may have helped you. would have given you some detail in the shadows and illuminated the eye, which is very important. i think you can back down the saturation especially in the yellows. they seem blown.

composition works well for me. do post the exif data. it will help better critique your image!!

Lija Big Welcome Sure wish I had the tech info, really helps The base image seems underexposed but I see its a tough bird to expose. The white on the base of the bill will always give problems If you look close the bird has plenty of detail on the right side (almost backside) so it tells the direction of the light. With a good light angle the bird would have shadow detail.

Framing wise would like to see the bird more toward the upper right of the frame since he is leaning left, sort of direction of movement. It is a cool pose and setting !!! Looking forward to many more !!!

Great legs, wonderful implied action, nice composition, good use of bg to show bird in its habitat. Agree that the bird itself is underexposed, want to see more of the facial details.
    Welcome

Thank you for the comments. Sorry for not posting the tech info.
Thanks Lance for extracting it :)

It seems impossible to get any head details, unfortunately.
