i put my feeder back up when i found that if you don't give the birds goodies, they don't come around anymore.
i must admit, that i did not knowthat a red bellied woodpecker had a red stripe on its belly. i found that out yesterday.:o

    Mike,

Red-bellied Woodpeckers do have a little patch of red on the bellys...hence the name. Not a very good name seemingly so. It's very hard to spot. I don't get too many of these species, but when I do they go for the suet and raw shelled peanuts.

I like the cropping of the image and BG nicely compliments. It would be nice to see some more detail in the feathers and lighten him up just a tad. Not sure how cropped down he is though. May be minor, but it would be nice to see what it'd be like with those sticks removed from the lower right of the image.

Hi Mike - made a couple of changes - original looked a little dark - so lightened it up a little - selectivley sharpened the bird and did a bit of work on the eye and cropped it vertical. See what you think.

the two black lines in the bottom right - could probably be evicted as well.

    :)

    Hi Mike,
I like the clean capture of your Woody,
you have the option of cropping several ways...as is, the composition is screaming vertical, or you can off center the Woody by taking from the left, adding canvas to the top to give him more head room and adding canvas to the right. I did exactly this. I also opened up the mid-tones and lightened the face and selective sharpened the eye. I boosted saturation and contrast...On the background; I created the colors in the Woody and painted on the background as a canvas, the blurred and liquefied to blend them in...see if this presents best to you...
