Hi Dave One good looking bird !!!

Excellent exposure and sharpness !! Also like the pose and head angle. Would try cropping a little different, have more room to the left in the direction he is looking. Would move the bird up in the frame to show all the smooth rocks and have less room up top.

On images like this sometimes I try using a slow shutter speed to blur the water if the bird cooperates and stays still !! Does give a neat effect !!! Excellent image !!!

    Hi Dave:

Like the exposure showing details on the bird in particular along with a good BG, also like Al's suggestion.

    Thanks for sharing.

BTW: Wish I was into photography when I lived in Caulfield near the water Circa `50

Thanks everyone for your comments and suggestions. It was an odd photo to crop. Bird had such an odd head angle. I like the idea of smoothing out the water, the bubbles bothered me. Means getting out of Av mode back into manual. Should be all right.
Uncle Gus, I bet it was very pretty around Caulfield at that time. Still is, just lots more developement.
