I took this at Bolsa Chica Wetlands in Huntington Beach Ca. I used my Nikon D300 and 300/4 AF-S.
    The exif is:
f/5.6, 1/1600, iso:800, in AV mode -1/3 using Matrix Metering.

    Brian,

Nice capture. I would suggest removing the stick in the lower left corner, possibly cropping the photo in a little.

Very nice picture Brian, Looks like details in all thw whites so no hot spots as far as I can see. Nice detail, perhaps could be sharpened a bit more, not sure,. Good one to get all of the bird in profile. Dave

As was stated...good detail in the whites and you caught the subject at a good moment. For my taste I would have liked to see more of the bottom and less of the top. I agree about removing the stick.

Hi Brian We need more at the bottom for the virtual feet, they are cut off !!! Would also like seeing the water circle fully visible, the general rule is if you have something worth including .. include all of it !!!

Excellent pose and behavior. I like the exp and tech info Did you use 12 or 14 bit? Normally I keep it on 14 unless there is a compelling reason for speed. Seems to make the images look closer to my D3. I like it a lot !!!

    Hi Brian,
I like the capture...I too would like to see more room at the bottom for the feet and also more room on the right side of the frame for the tail..Agree on cloning out the reed on the lower left side of the frame...Your exposure is good and the whites are in check...good show...looking forward to your next one...

Hi Brian. Nice capture, I like it! Tech points already well covered.

Nice to see more and more posts from California. I have been wanting to get down to Bolsa Chica for a while now. Good to see that birding is good there. Some nice spots up my way too.
