Thanks for all your input on my siskin post. What a great site you've got here. As for this one....sharpness OK? How about the contrast b/w on the head? I tried to selectively level the black areas so that the eye stood out more. Often on my chickadee shots the upper black on the head overpowers the eye. Lastly...cropping. Any suggestions for improvement there? I tried to leave more in front of the bird, but am not sure where in the vertical plane the bird should have been placed. Thanks. Tom Sayers

    OK.

OK. Personally I would make the black darker by a tad.

    It does, to me.

Lastly...cropping. Any suggestions for improvement there?
I would crop the bottom a bit.

Oh, before I forget, if you want to, you can adjust the color balance. I think the photo has a blue cast...in case that's not the result of your artistic decision to have it.

Tom, It's a great shot. I like the BG w/ the snow coming down, your chickadee is nice and sharp. Feather detail is good, not sure I'm seeing the blue cast but you can always check that. The crop is hard here as the chickadee appears to be in center.I would take a bit off the bottom as Desmond has suggested.

Hi Tom, I like th ephoto and pose. Nice and sharp and eye is focal point. I had followed up on a suggestion from an earlier post and downloaded Color Cop. If I am using it correctly, it would seem Desmond made a good catch. It will be interesting to see what others may say about this. I like the crop suggestion, gets the bird out of centre and may give appearance of more room for tail. Snow in back ground is very nice. Dave

Thanks Denise and Desmond for your help. I am at a total loss as to why, but a series of about 6 shots-out of maybe 50- suddenly developed this definite blue cast. It was very obvious when viewing the RAW files. When I looked at the camera settings, the only thing that apppeared to change was a slight drop in shutter speed. Any help on how/why this "suddenly" occurred? Also, I do not know how to "check" on this as Denise suggested and don't know how to color correct/fix it. Thanks, Tom Sayers

    Hi Tom,
I like the capture...agree on the blue cast and the cropping a small portion off the bottom...would also open up the blacks around the eye and selective sharpen it...
