Default Question re: Feisol 3441S tripod

I have just purchased a Feisol 3441S traveller tripod - seems excellent re: weight, build etc. I want to use my existing Bogen/ Manfrotto video head on it (mainly for birding with a scope, but also to hold a Tamron 200-500 lens) but I suspect this applies to any head, including Feisol's own ball-head. Is there a right or wrong way to configure the centre column? There are 2 locking knobs - a wide one and a narrow one. The images in the Feisol web site show them both above the tripod legs, but I have 1 above and 1 below, and I can't figure out how to change that. I don't know if I need to. The other issue (? related) is that when panning with the head, it seems very easy to simply loosen the whole head on the 3/8" screw. Has anyone got any experience with this tripod, and if so can they give me any advice?

    Richard,

I would call or email Michael from Feisol NC and talk to him about it. He is great!

I'm glad. Feisol support is as good as their products. I highly recommend their products.
