As I was staking out my spot before sunrise the other morning, for the GBH nest, this beauty silently flew in and landed about 15 meters away. As it was pre-dawn, I set ISO to 1600, opened up all the way and added +1 compensation (evaluative metering) and "hoped" for success with 1/50th shutter speed. I think you got a very nice image for your efforts. Not sure about the bill, i.e. whether I would tidy up the feather bits or not. That's all. Perhaps it was having a good tidy up before the start of a day? :)
