    Default Motif: Signs

This Burrowing Owl was sitting atop the street sign above his burrow almost as though he were announcing that this was his sanctuary and he was guarding his territory. You can also see how small he is in relation to the street sign.

    hand held, almost full frame

    Thanks for looking,

Agree with Gus. I didn't realise these owls were so small. It is nice to be able to get a sense of the owl's size from the sign.

    Cheers.

Tremendus shot of a Burrowing owl size perception great. They are so tiny!

Hi Marina, Nice shot, little fellow looks right at home up there. I'm curious about which lense you were using, looks like you got pretty close.

I apologize for not including lens info. It was the Canon 300L with the 1.4 @ 420mm. In this particular area, the birds allow you to get quite close b/c most of them live in neighborhoods and seem quite accustomed to people and cars.

    Hi Marina

I like being able to see a comparison to show their small size, great. These little guys are really tiny. Not easy photographing them on a perch !!!

I love Owls and this fellow is no exception! I love the unusual perch, how on earth does he (she?) perch on top? Well done with this! :)
