    Default Western Gull (portrait)

This gull landed about 20 feet away from me while I was photographing some ducks on the ice at a local lake.

Very nice portrait, I like the details, light and BG and might lighten the eye a bit more.

I like these tight headshots. Beautiful soft light. Good DOF to render the eye detail and bill nice and sharp. Some BG noise/Jpg artifact which may have been reduced by using a slightly lower ISO - seems you had enough shutter speed to buy a little ISO.

Thanks, Axel. I lightened the eye, but didn`t want to over do it though.

    Thanks for your comments, Tony.
The gull landed on a pile of snow, and only stayed there for a few seconds, so I took what it offered me.
