Wow! Great capture. Wish I could see one around here. Photo does have some noise to it, but otherwise alright to me.

On my monitor looking with my firefox, this photo looks dark. When opened in CS4 and using the embedded color profile, it looks pretty good; the red and the bird suddenly came to life ! :D I would still think it could use a bit levels adjustment though. Also, may I ask if that's a natural background as shot? I ask because it looks like there's a thin white halo around the bird its perch that makes me wonder if that's the result of selection made to select everything but the background. Good sharpness and details. Noise, as mentioned, could be lower though.

Hi Linda Real nice capture Agree with Desmond and can add to evict the second wire, its oof and distracting, just crop.

The original histogram is probably showing underexposure, remember to expose to the right. Have data on the last box to the right without going over !!!

    A nice composition Linda,
Agree with Desmond and Mr. Forns on the techs. The image is under exposed...See if you can open up the mid-tones on the bird and on the background, also around the eye area, and selective sharpen...looking forward to your next one...

Linda, I downloaded the photo to try to lighten the darkness just a bit and found you have a lot of noise and jpeg artifacts. My guess is you've cropped this heavily because it really shows if you magnify the image.

When you say you're working on cropping I wonder if you mean composition - getting the crop so the bird is in the right place in the frame? Is that what you mean? If so, I think you did a nice job -the majority of his body is in the left third of the image and his eye is almost centered...it draws you from the left to the right of the image and that's what you want.

Jules, Yes you are right. I was working on composition but I had to crop a bit much to bring him into the picture. This created a lot of noise. I am going to go back and adjust the levels as Gus pointed out and I might try and not to crop so much. Thanks for all the comments. Also, the background is the original bg. It was a cloudy and overcast day.

I am trying again to reduce the noise. And I re-composed.

    Comments please.
