    40D, 1-400L @ 400mm, f6.3, 1/160s, ISO 800, AI Focus, handheld. Cropped from left, removed a couple of branches sticking in from mid-left center.

    Head is very sharp with a slight blur in the legs which implies action. Nicely composed. Fine image....

    Steve,

    Your beating yourself up too much. IF I got a bird image at 1/160s with a sharp head and body like this and blurred wings, I am very happy and you should be too. This looks great. As Dale mentioned, the implied action due to the blurred legs is perfect.

    This is a great image! I love the action of the legs. They almost appear ghostly. Really portrays action. Love the sharp eyes as well.
