    The attached image of a Great Blue Heron was taken in Naples, FL on the berm leading to the mangrove in Pelican Bay. The camera was hand held and the shot taken at 11:40 AM in Oct 2006.


    Nikon D200
    1/160 sec at f /8.0
    ISO 100
    80-200mm zoom with image stabilizaion zoomed to 200mm (300mm equiv)

    Looks like you handled exposure well. I think the whites on the head could probably be recovered. I like the combo of reeds but would prefer the bird looking more into the frame. I'm sure you will get more good advice here.

    I like the lighting. As Paul mentioned the exposure looks good, but some PS work could be done. I know it is easy to say after the fact, but I would have also tried to get lower so there were the entire reflection is visible and less sky at top

    I like the eye contact and pose and would put the bird higher in the frame to include the entire reflection if you have. A lower angle would have been great if that was an option. The reeds crossing the bird are a bit distracting. Keep them coming!
