Just thought this one was a little amusing...I got in behind some rocks at Venice Beach, FL and started shooting what almost felt like paparazzi shots of the Snowy Egrets...this one saw me and gave me the evil eye(s).
Aside from me thinking it was amusing, any C & C would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Hi Rob - Nice looking snowy - exposure looks fairly good- although think your lighting was from the side which is why one half of the bird is in shadow - always bets to try and have your shadow pointing at the bird (sun at your back - although thats not always possible)

I would probabaly evict the OOF rock in the foreground and seletivley sharpen the eyes.

Hi Lance...completely agree with the light direction. Unfortunately if I had gone any further to the left I would have ended up in the Gulf of Mexico so I had to go with what I had.
I also completely agree with you on the OOF rock in the foreground. I was kind of going for a candid look to the shot which is why I left it in. I wasn't sure how it was going to be received. Now I know I will begin the eviction process.
Thank you very much for your C & C.

Rob, you did a beautiful job of exposing for the whites. I think the expression is marvelous and I love the candid feel of the image. The rock in the FG is a bit distracting just because it's so "in your face" and close to the edge of the frame. I would also sharpen the eyes a bit.

Although the bird is sidelit I don't think that's the end of the world. The shadows aren't all that harsh and, as I said, you did a beautiful job of exposure so I rather like it.

Hi Rob, I like the composition, and capture...the whites on the head and body are a tad on the hot side, you were shooting in harsh uneven side light, thats why you also have shadows on parts of the body, I modified your composition by toning down the hot spots eliminating the oof rock on the left side of the frame and the oof one at the bottom, and selective sharpened the area around the face and eyes...

Nice post Rob. Handled the whites well and got a good look on the bird. Must have been nice and close to boot. Dave
