Red-kneed Dotterel photographed on a drying waterhole at Chiltern, Victoria. I was sitting in the mud under a kwik-camo blind. Amongst other comments, I am particularly interested in your impressions of the crop, I do have a bit more image at right and a little bit extra at top and bottom.
Canon 40D, EF500 f/4 + 1.4 tc, tripod with angle viewer, evaluative, ISO 320, f/9, 1/640, some canvas added to correct a tilt then a bit cropped from the right. The whites where a bit bright, so I used the multiply technique to try and extract some extra detail from the throat, and toned down the white flank stripe with the burn tool.

I too would crop some off the bottom and off the right side as well. Get the subject out of center. Low angle works great here as does the exposure and sharpness.
I agree with the others, moving the subject to the right side of the frame would really enhance this photo. I would like to add that maybe adding a bit more canvas on the left would also be a solution if it fits your personal ethics of course. Lovely low angle, exposure, and pose. great shot!
What a lovely little wader. One of my faves on the east coast. I would crop more from the RHS; not fussed about reflection either way, Lance's suggestion is very good. The blacks have fantastic detail but the whites seem a little hot. Perhaps have a play with the master file and see how much more you can tone the whites down. Overall a very pleasant presentation. :)
