I took this photo this past week and thought I would post it for comment. I used a Canon EOS 40D, 500mm lens using a tri-pod, 1.4X extender, distance was at 107 meters, 1/800 shutter speed, F/11, and evaluative metering. I did crop some cropping of the image. Thanks in advance for your opinion.

Hi James I like the pose, behavior, exp and sharpness !! Excellent For my taste I would desaturate the blue but I know some people like it. Excellent btw is this bird from Viera?

Thanks for your comments Alfred. I took the photo at the Blue Heron Water Treatment facility in Titusville. This was in the southeast corner of the property about 9am last Thursday.

    Hi James,
I like the composition, image and capture...I like the behavior action, the bird is placed just right in frame..you display sharp details and good color rendition on the subject...on the background; as personal taste, I would tone down or desaturate the blue chanel...congrats...looking forward to your next one...

James, good behavioural capture. Might just sharpen a bit around the head area. Also the BG seems to have a bit of noise. An easy fix though. Were you almost level with the bird when you took this?

The bird was higher, but since it was 107 meters away I had a decent angle of inclination. The bird was on top of a cabbage palm (?) out in a water treatment cell.

Hi James - agree with all of the above - the blue does look a bit extreme on my monitor as well, also agree wth Jackie on sharpening the head area.

Like teh composition and the pose - well done :)
