Nice image of one of my favorite owls. Usually I like either both wings or down, but this works really well here and the head-on face draws me right in. It may be my tired eyes, but could the owl use a bit more sharpening?
Everything looks perfect from here. This is an outstanding image. Sharp, great light, stare, pose, and wing position.

I thinks it's a super shot Jim, I would have left a touch more on top and a bit less on the bottom and not sure if you lost much body detail through the use of noise reduction?
There is no NR on the image at all...either in camera or in processing.
It is a very minor crop as well as this bird was really rather close.
I think that when things are in motion, feathers show less fine detail than when they are perched...especially body feathers being flattened by the wind against them.
Jim I like a lot the bird´s pose and the intense stare of the owl. Sharpness looks OK for me in the most important areas and I think that flanks are not as sharp as the face just due to the natural softness of the owl´s feathers. Not sure if it is my uncalibrated monitor at the office but I think that the image is a bit cold. I also think that if you tone down the BG a bit the bird would pop up a lot more. Very good image Jim
