    Default Southern Carmine Bee-eater

Taken on last years safari to the South Luangwa NP- Zambia.
Cropped to portrait mode. Have left lower leaf in picture. (Beak has dirt from digging in nesting riverbank). Some more DOF would have been nice.
    Nikon D2Xs 300 f/2.8VR ISO400 f/2.8 1/1000s@300mm.

    C & C most welcome

    Cheers
    Marc

I like the soft light, eye contact and details. As for DOF, it looks good to me, what is the aperture? I might run NR on the BG.

Hi Mark, I enjoy seen these guys that I personally don't know.
I was trying to make your image a few changes, don't get me wrong, it is a wonderful image, I just pre-visualized it this way, I hope you don't mind.

Stunning bird, soft, sweet colors, and a lovely BKGR. And JC's repost is spot-on.

    Hi Axel
Aperture is f/2.8 I would have liked his tail tip a touch sharper as well. NR (Imagenomic) was used on BG. I thought it came up OK?
    Appreciate the comments everyone.

    Cheers

Sweet species with a lovely light, sweet BG, perch, eye contact and pose. I only miss another round of selective USM to the bird for web presentation and considering the extremely sharpness taht the bare 300VR can deliver I think that an additional touch of USM is necessary ;-)
