Haven't been around for a while, because work has been really busy. Hope to do some critiques tomorrow.
Did this one to relax today. A composite of two pictures. The gull is from a previous post and the BG was taken with the

It looks more like summer but it was a freezing cold, lonely, windy day at the beach. A group of buffleheads are floating in the waves. I wanted it to convey a feeling of loneliness and isolation.
Hi Jackie,
Welcome back...I like your composition very much...:)I took the liberty in adjusting it slightly. I took 1/4 from the bottom to eliminate some of the oof water in the foreground and to zero in more on the pano crop, putting more attention on your bird. you also had a piece of a gull to the right of the frame which I cloned out...I kicked up the saturation a notch and adjusted the contrast to bring out that beautiful sky...see if you approve...
Hi Jackie, Nice idea about the composite. Bg is interesting, cool choppy looking water and warm looking sky. I like Denise's ideas of gull going other way. Not sure how you do it, rotate bg and move gull over? I like Gus's repost with water libe at 1/3. Seems nicer. Really nice photo.

Jackie the composite works very well I like the water image a lot For those use as much focal length as you have and it gives a peculiar compression !! ... btw might have placed the bird on the other side of the frame !!! Do like it as presented !!!
Jackie, I like it very much as presented. I can see Alfred's point about placing the bird on the other side of the frame but, on reflection, prefer what you have done with it. The fact that the bird is looking out of the frame seems to emphasise the 'feel' that you are trying to convey with this shot.
Thanks for the comments. The oof water is actually another wave, think I kind of like it in. Do like the up in contrast and colour. Thanks Gus. Didn't notice the bird on the edge either.:o Dave it was pretty easy to put the bird in, just resized it, and used the clone stamp tool at 100 percent hardness and erased to the edges. It would be easy to clone stamp him out and put it anywhere in the picture.
Nice composite, Jackie...beautiful colors and tones here. I think the gull would work in either position but do like that the smaller bird is behind him in the BG. Nicely done!
Like how you got the feeling you described. Gus's repost is great as usual, however, I like the greater expanse of water as it gives it a greater feeling of lonliness.
