    Default 5DMKII Sensor Cleaning?

The electronic sensor cleaning feature seems to be pretty good--but I have 3 annoying dust spots on my relatively new camera. Can I clean the sensor with a lenspen like I do my cameras that do not have the self cleaning feature?

    Thanks

I assume the 5D mkII has a manual sensor clean option in the menus. My 40D and 50D do. So manually cleaning a self-cleaning sensor is acceptable to Canon I guess. If you've had good success with the lenspen I'd stick with it. I use Visible Dust products myself.

Surprised you have spots already. I've had my 40D for over a year and still have yet to have a spot on the sensor. I've heard that FF sensors attract more dust- I know my 5D seems to!

I'd take it to a dealer if it came that way. A friend of mine had a bunch of spots out of the box and took it to the dealer who advised him that the spots were under the sensor and could not be removed and thus returned it to Canon for a new one. Something to ponder.

Probably under the filter that covers the sensor but one wonders how they got there considering that Canon I'm sure uses "white room" cleanliness when they put their sensors together.
