HI Gus Good capture ... one small hummer !!!

Would like the hummer lighter, was the histogram to the right? Looking a the exposure looks like it should have been like +1 or so and there seems to be a halo around the beak/head area. With birds having a clean bg I normally select the sky, inverse and contract since even a slight sharpening could cause problems.

Really like the image Looks like a little fighter plane !!!

Cute little guy! Agree with Alfred on the rest.

Do see some odd swirls in the BG?

    Hi Guys:

    Thanks for looking.

Al, here's cropped original, histogram, looks like I screwed up the photo with a bit of curves & USM. What do you mean by "Inverse and contract"?

Hi Gus I was suggesting selecting the sky since its easy, can do with magic wand then you inverse the selection and contract the selection one or two pixels. This way you will be working only on the bird. If you use shadow/highlight or sharpening there won't be any halos.

That histogram is about one stop under. You want data on the fifth box to the right and its empty. With time you can guess the right exposure most of the time or be within one third. My aim while making the picture is to have as little PS as possible !!!

Gus, did you clone anything on the left side out of the image? I see those odd swirls that the others are talking about. If you want to even those out, go to where the normal sky is, select clone and a big brush and move the opacity to about 50%. Use the uncloned blue area to move over the cloned section - the big brush with 1/2 opacity will help blend the two areas together seamlessly!

Such a cute bird. Must be hours of fun to watch Gus. Might lighten around the head/neck area a bit. Love the little feet:)
