    I like the pose and BG and would increase the contrast. I would also remove the piece hanging from the perch in the lower right. The blacks look a bit noisy.

    Another vote for more contrast. Good details and killer BG. I would remove whatever is hanging.

    Agree with above, might also take a little off the right and add a wee bit to the left. Nice image

    Good, unusual pose for this species, Jon. As you state it was in your back garden, isn't it about time you changed the perch? - it looks rather well used and worn! I like the graduation in the BG.

    Great pose, and a perfect OOF BG. I agree with removing the hanging piece of bark.

    Ok guys you don't like the perch that's OK- the intention was that it portrayed the fact that the woodpecker had been tearing it to bits in search of food - hence the loose bit.
