This shot was taken on a private wolf tour in Yellowstone on Jan 2nd. The 302's were bedded down close to the road until the wolf on the right come up the hill. They had a group greeting howl, huddled up and headed off. It was an amazing experience.

Very well done long distance group howling image. The pano works well for this image.. FYI 302 is an individual wolf. The packs are all named i.e. Druids, Slough Creek, Agates, etc....

    Robert,

From what our guide said this is a new pack formed under 302 recently which had not been named yet. If I remember correctly they are an off shot of the Druids. Are you aware of their pack name?

    Jared,
How far were you from the Wolves? Is it possible to trek closer?
    Cheers,

    Sabyasachi,

We were about 150 yards from the pack, up on a ridge. We were closer to them by the road but due to the rolling hills the wolves were not visible below the ridge. Yellowstone requires folks to stay at least 100 yards away from Wolves and Bears.

I got a shot of a single Grey Wolf at about 100 yards range, but its not as pleasing an image as the pack together. I definately hope to get closer to wolves sometime in the future.

Beautifully made, Jared. You really get a sense of the environment they live in and the "pack" aspect of the photo is deeply moving.
