    First day out with my new 40D in July, to see how good AI Servo might be compared to the 20D I was upgrading from. Was obviously tough with these guys, but AI Servo was definitely improved.

    Never satisfied though, so only had the 40D for a bit before getting a 50D. :)

    Canon 40D, 400 5.6L, 1/3200, f8, 430EX @ -1 1/3.

    Certainly not easy photographing these types of birds in-flight. I assume this is a big crop? As posted the darker colours seem washed out a bit - a contrast boost or levels adjustment would surely improve this. I also wish we had a better view of the far wing.

    Well, super job tracking it!! Originally fills more of the frame than I would have thought :-)

    The task of tracking was made quite a bit easier due to the situation. I was standing on top of a tiny little rural bridge on a gravel road, and these guys nest under them around here. They were coming and going feeding their young while I stood there, so it was a matter of seeing one coming back to the nest from a distance away, and knowing exactly where he was going.
