It has been awhile but I'm back with my second post. Camera, Nikon D80 with Nikon 80-400 on Program Auto, ISO 400, 1/2500, f6.3, exposure 0.0, 310mm, handheld. I have a hard time with the reddish because they they move around so much, but they are my favorite bird to photograph. I cropped slightly for composition and sharpened a little. I use Elements 5 and only know how to use the basic edit and how to remove some things in the background. Critique and help please! Also thanks to all who commented on my first post of the stork.

    Hi Judy

The base image is very good and takes little PS work, IMO the way it should be !!!

I like the pose, wings and that you got in good sun angle. Only softer light would have helped. The head is looking away but don't bother me much since the bird is in action and looking at something !!!

With these guys just follow the action and keep moving staying in sun angle, don't worry if you are missing images, you will come out ahead !!!

    Hi Judy,
I like the open wings and the sharp details...the head angle is off by a tad...in these types of action shots, its best to takes several rapid images and eventually you will nail the head angle as the bird moves from side to side...I like the smooth clarity of the water...looking forward to your next one...

Thanks everyone for your comments and Harold....I was at Joe Overstreet Monday and didn't see one eagle, not even at a distance! No Caracara either. Saw roadkill untouched. But you know tomorow there could be a bunch. I live in Osceola county and have seen many in the last two months just driving between St. Cloud and Kissimmee. Unfortunately two of the nests I could get to have disappeared due to building of new homes. What I did see was the Whoopers and a male Snail Kite. In December I got some shots of a Peregrine dining on a bird.
