Another shot from the Aviary in Pittsburgh. This one, if I had a nickle for
everytime somebody asked me if this was photoshop'd, I'd be a rich man.
First, this was shot from behind glass with my 20D, 70-200 with the 1.4x
on it. Shutter was 1/80; Aperture F8 and the ISO 1600.
Now for a little history on the shot and the bird...
The eagles (there's two of them) are actually outside, surrounded by three
wood fences and the glass wall (which is on the inside where I was). There
is no ceiling, its all open.
The reason is, the birds' wing is permanently damaged. So they can't fly.
This shot was in July, so the Aviary had a flag hanging on the back wall. When
I first got to the Aviary, the eagle was left of the flag. After studying the bird, I
noticed he was every so slightly, moving in front of the flag.
Hoping he'd keep moving, I waited...and waited. I waited almost 2 hours for him
to move in front of the flag. Of course, the image is cropped so the back of the
fence isn't showing.

Patience does have it's virtue in nature photography. The eagle looks good and the composition works here as well. I'd say you did a good job shooting through glass....especially at the shutter speed that you had. It certainly would make a nice image to use for patriotic themes or the 4th of July. You can post larger images here and it is always good to help judge detail, etc.
Yeah, I know. When it comes to the pix being longer in length vs the width, I always worry
about people having to scroll to much up/down to see it...if that makes sense.
