Big sigh. This image has issues, heavy overcast with light fog, I wasn't real solid locking on target and I'm starting to think I'll never get these guys coming into the frame. The local WL's is about 250 long by 150 wide and is stuffed with about 300 Canada Geese, with some mallards, even with binoculars they are hard to find.
Hubby absolutely loves this, warts and all..then again he likes any image that has a PT in it even it not much more than a speck:o It isn't noise on the one underbelly of the one PT, it is actually some minor feather detail. Maybe get another try at them later in the week. I need to be faster and work a bit smarter.

Nobody said flight was easy Nonda. On a positive note, had you captured this image but a second earlier it would have been spectacular. Good self-critique! Stick with flight; it takes lots of practice but you'll get some stunning images once you perfect your technique. With regard to this image, I love the complimentary wing positions of the two birds. Exposure looks good. A bit of extra shutter speed would have helped (as you pointed out). All in all a solid effort.

Ahha but Doug I though it would be getting just a bit easier by now:) we plow on since it is so darn much fun, even the misses, which are most.

    Thanks!

I really like the soft feel and colors in your image, Nonda. I too like the wing positions you have here. Yup, what we get might not be perfect, but we keep trying, don't we.... lol (as I just flipped the counter on my camera for the 5th time. but then again, I've had it for a year now.....I'm probably way behind most of the rest of you all here.)

You might consider a flight photography workshop. I'll be co-leading Jim Neiger's flight workshop starting on Friday in Florida. He offers a number of them in Florida in the wintertime. I may be doing one of my own in California this summer.

Doug my goal is to get to FL , I was hoping this year, Feb/March, but it is now on hold. I would probably be beyond stupid happy to be out in the field with folks that know what they are doing.

Alfred, pre focusing was in (sort a) the plan, but they 'left' before I was quite done slithering up on them, spooky twits. Then BIP syndrome takes over:(

It's beautiful. I'm guessing that you replaced the sky -- I don't see one molecule of noise in it.:D I've got you pegged now as Queen of the Skies.

    Is that a reflected gradient?

Thank you David I think;) I prefer real, but we are in gray soup weather and its just too blah so I change them now and again. Yes it is reflected, just discovered that the other day, yes I'm really pretty CS3 illiterate, learning.

I have been meaning to ask you, I have been looking at cloud brushes any you would recommend?

I have a dozen installed. If you email me, I'll send you a zip of the whole batch. Just drag them into your brushes folder and they'll appear in the brushes menu when you launch PS. I find myself preferring some much more than others, but trial and error is the way to find what you like. There's an email button on my website.
